April 30, 2015 (Auburn, CA) – The Ultra Race of Champions (UROC) announced today their latest partnership with HOKA ONE ONE as the Official Footwear of the Ultra Race of Champions. The 2015 UROC race will be held in Auburn, California on September 26, 2015, and includes the UROC 100k, Über Rock 50k and Cruxy Half Marathon.
“HOKA ONE ONE shoes were originally inspired by ultra distance runners. I’ve personally been running in them since the inception of the brand, so this was a natural fit for us” explains Bad to the Bone Endurance Sports CEO and HOKA ONE ONE athlete, James Russell Gill III. “We are very excited to partner with a shoe company that is loved by so many runners, of every level. The 2015 UROC course is perfect to showcase the versatility of the HOKA ONE ONE brand. I feel that HOKA ONE ONE embodies the attitude that everyone can be a champion!”
This year’s UROC race retains its $20,000 prize purse, split evenly between the top five males and females. One of the unique aspects of the Ultra Race of Champions is its ability to allow elite and amateur runners to compete against each other on the same day and same course and to interact socially pre and post event. The 2015 course in Auburn, California showcases a challenging and picturesque trail course following the American River. In the spirit of the Ultra Race of Champions, elite and amateur runners will find the course equally challenging for any level of specification without favoring the mountain runner over the faster runner or vice versa.
“We are proud to be partnering with James Russell Gill III and the Ultra Race of Champions. While HOKA ONE ONE continues to grow and broaden the types of shoes that we offer, we are committed to building the best trail running footwear on the market. UROC is a well-established, premium event that gives runners an incredible opportunity to race in a beautiful environment which is second-to-none,” said HOKA ONE ONE Brand President Jim Van Dine.
