About Skylark Nature Preserve and Lodge
Skylark occupies a mile and a half of frontage along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the mountains of the George Washington National Forest. In early years, prior to the Parkway being built in the 1930's, Skylark was a sheep farm. Then in the 1960's, it became a Christmas trees farm, including Fraser firs and thousands of planted pines. In 2010, Craig and Anne Colberg bought Skylark. They continue to operate the tree farm as well as utilize the facilities as a retreat center. Notably the land has been put in a conservation easement, held by the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, to be protected forever in its natural state. The Colberg's have subsequently added additional adjacent land which now totals almost 500 acres. More information can be found at http://www.skylarkva.com/ and http://www.discoverskylark.com/
